We are very excited to have been named as a delivery partner for ESF Community Grants in 2020. ESF Community Grants are funded by the European Social Fund (ESF) and the Education and Skills Funding Agency and the aim of the fund is to help unemployed people progress towards employment through access to learning and training opportunities.
The grant will enable local people who are currently out of work to access a unique learning opportunity in the Selby District.
We will be running two training courses around communicating, engaging and giving advice, using the field of energy as a chance to put learning into a practical context. Attendees will also receive one-to-one support in progressing towards additional training and/or employment.
Kate, who will be running the project, said: "We recognise that many people have significant barriers to accessing training and employment opportunities, whether it be limited transport, caring responsibilities, low confidence or self-esteem, or a lack of recent experience. This ESF Community Grant will enable us to work with local residents to overcome these barriers by providing practical support (such as help with travel costs) as well as a learning opportunity in an environment that is fully inclusive and supportive".
Furthermore, by concentrating on skills around communicating, engaging and advising others, participants will be developing transferable skills that are so highly desired by potential future employers. This offers a valuable addition to any CV and will better equip participants for volunteering opportunities and interview situations.
